WORKING ONLINE IN DIFFICULT TIMES

Hey, what’s up? I haven’t heard from you in a while. Today I’m going to talk a little about working online in difficult times. Yes, I’ve been through a lot of difficult times while working online. I’ve had a lot of slow periods online, which was my fault and I have learned from my mistakes.

As I’m writing this blog post. I’m sitting on a chair in my house and looking through my window at my car.

WHAT HAPPENED 2 YEARS BEFORE?

Let’s fast forward to two years ago. I can remember around this same month in 2016, I was making preparation to move out of my nice big rent house because I couldn’t pay my rent. I had to pull my kids from the school that they were attending and send them to their father’s house. Everything came tumbling down, even my light got disconnected.

WHAT CAUSED THE COLLAPSE OF MY ONLINE BUSINESS?

After over one year online I got comfortable. I started turning down jobs that I would normally do when I just got started. I started canceling orders because I didn’t feel like doing them. When my business collapsed it wasn’t because there wasn’t enough work out there. It was because I became comfortable and lazy and I stopped learning and growing.

Just like any business. If you don’t pay attention to your online business,  it will fail.

Anyway, I did move out of the rent house and brought my furniture to where the children were going to be staying.

At this point in time, I could have given up and conclude that working online is not for me. Instead what I did was, I looked at my kids, looked at myself, looked on the mistakes I made and decided that I’m going to pick myself up and try again. I wrote down my goals. At the top of my list was building a house for me and my kids.

PERSISTENCE IS KEY

I never gave up! In the past two years since those events occurred. I persisted and my business picked up. I became a trainer, traveling around Jamaica and training persons to start their online business. I built my website. The same one you are on now. With the help of Alicia and Lorette I create my course get paid to type. I built a section of my house and I recently moved in. I bought my car. And of course, I can provide for my children and eat without worrying.

Now, if I had given up on my online business when things got rough, I would not be writing this. I’m happy I never gave up.

MORAL OF THIS BLOG

To conclude, life will through stones and boulders at you. Learn to catch them and build something. Do not let them drop on you and crush you. It’s like the old saying “when life throws you lemonades, learn to make lemon juice.”

Working online in difficult times is indeed a journey. I will continue even when things seem to be at a standstill because I know it works. I can’t wait to see what the next 2 years have in store.
